THE UNVEILING OF ANTIGUA AND BARBUDA'S ROMANTIC RHYTHMS

As most people gear up for the fervent high of the most romantic day of the year, Valentine's Day 2008 will be a special celebration in Antigua and Barbuda - the Love Islands of the Caribbean.
The refreshing trade winds of these beautiful and exotic islands will be spreading romance and igniting passions, as excitement about Antigua and Barbuda's first international music festival, Romantic Rhythms continues to gain momentum  The Ministry of Tourism, title sponsors of the event, will 'unveil" the festival taking it from  concept to reality, on Feb 13.

A media reception is planned at the newly renovated Rush Night Club and Lounge where the logo, website, program of events and preliminary artist line-up for Romantic Rhythms will be presented to media practitioners and stakeholders.  Similar media events will be held throughout the Caribbean region and also in other major source markets such as the US, UK and Canada in the next few weeks.

Dubbed the Caribbean's first Romance Festival, Romantic Rhythms will feature two mega concerts that will be staged at the Vivian Richards Stadium.  Another major attraction of Romantic Rhythms will be the mini concert series called Rhythms of the Islands.  This series of outdoor concerts will take performances to various intimate entertainment centers across the destination and allow all Antiguans and Barbudans the opportunity to connect with performers and feel the lyrical splendor of these twin Islands

To give journalists and a select audience a prelude of what is to come in June the Month of Romance, Antiguan beauty Shermain Jeremy will perform at a reception hosted by Minister of Tourism, Hon. Harold Lovell and Chairman of the Festival Management Committee, Dr. Alvin Edwards.   The event will be themed Sunset Rhythms and will help to get this select group of music aficionados in the mood and evoke treasured memories of a time when life was simple and there was a stronger sense of family and community.

On Valentines Day, Lunchtime Rhythms will be staged at Redcliffe Quay between 11 - 2.   This free concert will feature Empress of Reggae Jamaican superstar, Hon. Marcia Griffith O.D.formerly of the Wailers and local performers including Foster Joseph and Shermain Jeremy.

Minister Harold Lovell is extremely excited about the upcoming event and said, "After more than a year of research and planning we are pleased to unveil the festival Romantic Rhythms to the media and the public.  We want to stimulate excitement by staging several mini concerts as the countdown to the destination's first music festival continues. This will also mark the launch of intensive promotions locally, regionally and internationally."

Chairman of the Festival Management Committee, Dr. Alvin Edwards is pleased that the event will move from concept to reality. Antigua and Barbuda is ready for an event of this magnitude.  We boast some of the most majestic sunset views that will be the perfect backdrop for our outdoor concerts. He points out that while there is a lot of work to be done, he is confident that the right team is in place to successfully manage market and produce the festival.

The Festival Management Committee intends to tap into the infrastructure and network of volunteers that had been established to support ICC World Cup.  At the same time, Committee Chairs for the Festival Management Committee for Romantic Rhythms have been selected and will be announced shortly.
Located in the heart of the Caribbean, Antigua and Barbuda, named Best Wedding Island at the Caribbean Travel Awards, has quickly become one of the world's top wedding and honeymoon destinations.  With this designation in mind, Romantic Rhythms will be the Caribbean's first Romance Festival. Similar events held around the world include the Festival of Romance in Chester, England, Romancing Singapore and "Return to Romance" in Hawaii.
